Ballpoint pens were still a relatively new invention and many people still used fountain pens. They are a pleasure to use.

My daughter recently got married and I ordered a Lamy fountain pen online and used it to address the invitations. It’s not a fancy pen, and it is not expensive, but it’s well made and it is a pleasure to write with it.
Thanks for the information – I’ll be looking up Lamy. The only new fountain pens I’ve seen in the last few years were in an airport shop and they were really expensive. It seems their least expensive was over $100. A friend of mine in England always writes with one and it makes receiving one of her letters even more special.
I’ll bet those were beautiful invitations.
