Vintage Christmas Card, XII

This card appears to be from the late 1930s or early 1940s – but without further research, this is just a guess. (The bouffant skirts and bonnets of the Dickens’ era were popular in the 30s; 40s styles became a bit more modern.)

Vintage Christmas Card, X

The gift with the blue ribbon is glittered.

This card looks like it’s from the early 1950s.

Vintage Christmas Cards IX

This card was printed onto double folded paper and has an embossed edge framing the shepherd on the front. My guess is that it’s postwar 1940s.

Color from the card front may show a bit on the inside pages, since these cards are folded from a larger sheet of paper (kind of a double fold, rather than a single fold as most cards are now).

Even the back was cheerful.

This card seems to be from the 1940s, possibly post-war.

Vintage Christmas Cards, 1967

These pages are from the 1967 Montgomery Ward Christmas Catalog.

An interesting side note on how much our culture has changed is that the Christmas Card Tree holds up to 168 cards.

Who in the world would get 168 cards nowadays?

Every year I send out 25 – 35 and receive about 12.
